Thank you for considering Cakes by Rachel for your wedding dessert! We love working with couples to celebrate their marriage in the sweetest way possible. Once you inquire with us, the first thing we do is check our calendar to make sure that we are available for your date.
Please tell us about your vision! What are you dreaming of for your cake? Details are helpful, but don’t worry if you don’t have it all figured out just yet. We will guide you through the process.
Please note, we have a $1,000 total order minimum, not including delivery or cake stand rental. Tiered cakes begin at $10.00/serving and supplemental kitchen cakes for larger weddings begin at $7.00/serving.
We also offer dessert tables, which can be served on their own, or in addition to a cake of any size. Dessert tables begin at $9.00/person, are customized for each client, and include 3-5 selections. Custom items are possible!
Once you have inquired, and we have determined that we are available, we will send over all the basic information and menus.
Sending an inquiry is the first step, but is not a guarantee of your space. When you are ready to book, we will send over our save the date contract. At this point, we require a $500 retainer and a signed save the date contract.
Since we are a boutique cake bakery, we take a very limited number of commissions each weekend, and spots fill quickly. As such, we recommend booking early.
There may be numerous inquiries for your date. We will do our best to let you know if spaces are filling up. We operate on a first come, first serve basis in order to make things as fair as possible for all. Paying the deposit guarantees your date.
The sweetest part of wedding planning is trying cake and we can’t wait to have you in for a tasting or preparing one for takeaway. Some couples choose to do a tasting before they book their date, some after. It is not necessary to secure your date before scheduling your tasting appointment, however, there is no guarantee that your date will be available should you choose to wait until after the tasting to pay the deposit.
At your tasting, you will taste the cake flavors and combinations that you have selected. Then, you and Rachel will design your dream cake and go over your various wedding day details. In-house appointments take place at our bakeshop and usually last about an hour.
For those who have takeaway tastings, we will schedule a separate design session over Zoom with Rachel. This option is perfect for out of town couples who have a lot to squeeze into their visits to the area. We would love to see any elements of your wedding to use as design inspiration.
Examples are wedding invitations, design plan, linens, color palette, flowers, Pinterest board, or wedding cakes you love.
Our tastings are custom created for each client. The tasting fee is based on how many items you choose, not how many people are eating the cakes. Our standard tasting is ample for 4 guests and includes 4 cakes, 4 fillings, and 4 buttercreams of your choice. Tastings of our dessert bar items are also an option. We will send tasting instructions once we have scheduled your tasting.
Once you have tasted your cake and finished your design session with Rachel, you will receive your completed contract and a hand drawn sketch of your cake design.
We are happy to decorate your cake with fresh flowers provided by your florist or with sugar flowers that we create by hand. The completed contract will have updated pricing that reflects your unique flavors and design.
We have an extensive collection of cake stands for rent. Styles range from wooden to metallic finish. Many of these styles are on display in our bakeshop, and our cake stands have their own Instagram account: @cbrcakestands. Items we do not offer are tables, linens, serving pieces, cake cutting knife, or menu cards.
One month prior to your big day, we will check in with you to discuss your final guest count and finalize your order, making small adjustments as necessary. Some designs may not be adjustable. Please note, reducing the cake size may increase the cost per serving for intricately designed cakes.
Once we have finalized the order, we will email your final invoice. Please have all payments delivered to us 2 weeks prior to your event. We accept both checks and credit card payments. For paying by credit card, please request an invoice. Please remember that we have a $1,000 minimum order, so pricing may need to be adjusted to meet the minimum.
We will communicate with you or your coordinator regarding delivery and set up. Please let us know any special delivery requirements. Boxes for your top tier, a bridal basket, and/or potential leftovers will be provided.
All that’s left is to say “I do”, eat cake, and live happily ever after!
